Ricardo Lategan deals with anxiety on a daily basis, but that didn't stop him from being a magazine cover
At only 29 years old, Ricardo Lategan has an impressive physique, all thanks to a healthy diet and a lot of training in the gym. Despite having an enviable physique, Lategan fights against constant anxiety, which is nothing less than a debilitating stress. With his 92kg and 182 cm, he is the cover of the South African magazine Men's Health.
"It's been a constant thing," he begins by revealing that magazine in an interview. "I can't remember a time when I wasn't anxious, it's just with you all the time."
He was a promising rugby player and his athletic prowess managed to study for Grey College in Bloem, South Africa. This institution was even nicknamed "the largest rugby school in the world" because they passed through there some winning legends of world sport such as Juan Pienaar, Bismarck and Jannie Du Plessis and Frans Steyn. Despite having entered this institution, two knee injuries prevented him from continuing his dreams. Even though he immigrated to the United States, things did not go the best way, being forced to leave that country and return to his country, to Cape Town.
"In a way, I set myself this challenge to prove that my anxiety is wrong," he says. "That I could turn 30 and be in the best shape I've ever been." Although his mind always wants to take him to the worst case scenario, he created tools to try to deal with anxiety and stress.
